What Duphalac is
- It takes time: the UK patient leaflet for lactulose oral solution says lactulose takes 2 to 3 days to start working.
- Made for Abbott Pakistan by Highnoon Laboratories in Lahore: DRAP’s registry record lists Highnoon as the contract manufacturer, and Abbott’s site in Victoriaville, Canada, as a manufacturer too.
- We found no Pakistani leaflet for Duphalac online, so no Pakistani document we could find states its condition of sale. We sell it without a prescription; the clinical facts on this page come from UK sources and DRAP, each named where it is used.
- DRAP controls Duphalac’s price: its price index sets Rs 331.83 for the 120 ml bottle and Rs 626.55 for the 240 ml bottle, effective 23 July 2026, and our 120 ml price is below DRAP’s figure.

Checking your pack is genuine
DRAP has declared Duphalac syrup 100 ml, batch 251986, spurious and unregistered. If your bottle is 100 ml or its batch number is 251986, do not use it.
- Check the size: DRAP registers Duphalac in amber glass bottles, priced in 120 ml and 240 ml; it registers no 100 ml bottle.
- Check that the batch number on the carton matches the one on the bottle, and that the seal is intact.
- DRAP’s alert says the fake claims to be made by Abbott Laboratories Co., Canada. An Abbott site in Canada is also on the genuine record, so the size and batch number are the checks to rely on.
- If anything looks wrong, do not use it. Send us a photo of the carton and bottle on WhatsApp, and report it to DRAP.
DRAP Rapid Alert No. I/S/12-25-127, 30 December 2025: Duphalac syrup 100 ml, batch 251986, purported to be made by Abbott Laboratories Co., Canada, declared spurious after testing by the Drug Testing Laboratory Punjab, and unregistered (falsified). DRAP says Highnoon Laboratories, the genuine contract manufacturer for Abbott Pakistan, confirmed it did not make the batch.
We buy only from authorised distributors, and check the batch and expiry on every item before it is packed.
Information as of 30 October 2026. DRAP publishes new alerts on dra.gov.pk.

DRAP registration
- Duphalac Syrup (006655), Abbott Laboratories (Pakistan) Limited. DRAP’s registry shows: Reviewed, “Not Verified”.
DRAP publishes no definition of this verification flag, so we can’t tell you what it means. We searched DRAP’s website for “Duphalac” and “lactulose” on 30 October 2026 and found one alert naming falsified Duphalac syrup 100 ml, batch 251986 (below), and one naming a different lactulose brand. When we tested it, the search did not find a word that appears only inside an alert’s attached PDF, so an alert that names a product only in its PDF may not show up. DRAP describes its registered products index as a provisional list that “cannot be used as a reference for any purpose”. Checked against the registry on .
