What Osnate D is
Osnate D (ossein mineral complex 830 mg with vitamin D 400 IU) is a calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D tablet that AGP’s own product listing gives for extra mineral needs in pregnancy, breastfeeding and growth, and for osteoporosis, osteomalacia and low blood calcium. No Pakistani document we could find states its condition of sale, and we sell it without a prescription.
- Registered with DRAP under number 055948. (DRAP registry entry).
- Made by AGP Limited, Karachi. DRAP’s record shows it was registered in 2009 as Calnate-D Tablet and renamed Osnate-D Tablet in 2010.
- If you take other vitamin D or calcium, ask first: the French product information for Ossopan (Pierre Fabre) says calcium given with vitamin D needs close monitoring of calcium in the blood and urine, and Osnate D contains both.
- DRAP’s registry approves Rs 600 for the pack of 30 (registry entry), the price we list.
- We found no AGP leaflet online, only AGP’s product listing, so the cautions on this page come from French and Polish labels for the same bone-mineral ingredient, and the NHS for vitamin D, each named where it is used.
What is in each tablet
From the label claim in DRAP’s registry, which AGP’s product listing repeats.
| Ingredient | Amount per tablet |
|---|---|
| Ossein mineral complex (from bone) | 830 mg |
| Calcium | 177.6 mg |
| Phosphorus | 82.2 mg |
| Collagen | 224 mg |
| Other proteins | 66.4 mg |
| Residual mineral salts | 24.9 mg |
| Vitamin D | 400 IU |
The calcium, phosphorus, collagen, other proteins and mineral salts are what the 830 mg of ossein mineral complex corresponds to, not extra ingredients. DRAP’s label claim gives approximately 440 mg of hydroxyapatite and lists trace elements: fluorine, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper and nickel.
What it is used for
AGP’s listing gives a wider set of uses than the French and Polish labels for the same bone mineral.
| Source | Uses |
|---|---|
| Pakistan, AGP’s product listing | Increased mineral requirements during pregnancy, breastfeeding and growth; osteoporosis; osteomalacia (soft bones); low blood calcium; bone pain; increased bone fragility; prevention of tooth decay; and as an aid when a fracture is slow to heal. |
| France, Ossopan | Calcium deficiency, especially in growth, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and as an add-on treatment for osteoporosis, in adults and children over 6. |
| Poland, Osteogenon 830 mg | Osteoporosis; calcium-phosphate balance in pregnancy and breastfeeding; as an aid after fractures. |
France’s health technology body, HAS, rated Ossopan’s medical benefit insufficient to justify reimbursement (ANSM database). Neither foreign product contains vitamin D. (The French and Polish labels are summarised here by us.)
How to take it
AGP’s listing says to take it before meals with some liquid, gives a usual daily regimen, and leaves osteoporosis to the physician, so ask your doctor how much to take.
- Keep it 2 hours apart from some medicines: the French label says to take ossein-hydroxyapatite more than 2 hours, if possible, from tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonates, iron or zinc, and thyroid hormones. See the table below.
- Children: the French label is for adults and children over 6 and rules out the tablets under 6 because of the form; the Polish label says the product is for adults.
Who should not take it, or should ask a doctor first
From the French product information for Ossopan (Pierre Fabre) unless the Polish label is named.
- Must not take it: anyone with high calcium in the blood or urine, calcium kidney stones or calcium deposits in tissues, severe kidney failure or dialysis, or an allergy to the ingredients. The Polish label lists the same.
- Long periods of immobility with high calcium: the French label says calcium should only be given once mobility returns.
- A history of calcium kidney stones: both labels say to avoid combining it with vitamin D, and Osnate D contains vitamin D, so ask your doctor.
- Kidney problems: the French label says to check blood and urine calcium regularly and avoid high doses.
- Older people on heart glycosides such as digoxin, or on diuretics: the French label says blood calcium should be checked regularly.
- Antacids that contain absorbable alkali (such as sodium bicarbonate), or other high doses of calcium: the French label warns of a risk of milk-alkali syndrome (high calcium, alkalosis and kidney failure).
Other medicines and supplements
From the French product information for Ossopan (Pierre Fabre); the Polish label lists the same medicines.
| Medicine | What happens | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Thiazide diuretics (water tablets) | What happens: Risk of high blood calcium, because less calcium leaves in the urine. | Source: France, 4.5 |
| Heart glycosides such as digoxin | What happens: High calcium can increase their toxicity: the label says patients should be monitored by ECG and blood calcium tests. | Source: France, 4.5 |
| Tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonates, iron or zinc, thyroid hormones | What happens: Take them more than 2 hours apart, if possible. | Source: France, 4.5 |
| Integrase inhibitors for HIV (dolutegravir, bictegravir, elvitegravir) | What happens: On an empty stomach, take the HIV medicine 2 hours before or 6 hours after calcium. | Source: France, 4.5 |
| Steroid medicines (glucocorticoids) | What happens: They may reduce how much calcium is absorbed. | Source: France, 4.5 |
| Other vitamin D supplements | What happens: The NHS says adults should not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day, as it could be harmful: count the vitamin D in Osnate D towards it. | Source: NHS |
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
AGP lists increased mineral needs in pregnancy and breastfeeding as uses. The French label says it may be used during pregnancy if clinically needed, and during breastfeeding; the Polish label says the same.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell your doctor about every vitamin and mineral supplement you take.
Side effects
The French product information for Ossopan (Pierre Fabre) lists these, with frequency not known; the Polish label lists the same.
| Type | Side effects |
|---|---|
| Stomach and gut | Abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting. |
| Skin | Rash, itching. |
| Calcium levels | High calcium in the blood or urine, with long treatment or high doses. |
Too much vitamin D: the NHS says taking too many vitamin D supplements over a long time can cause too much calcium to build up in the body, which can weaken the bones and damage the kidneys and the heart.
Osnate, Osnate D tablets and Osnate-D sachet are different
AGP sells several products under the Osnate name. This page sells Osnate D tablets only.
| Product | What it contains, from DRAP’s label claim |
|---|---|
| Osnate-D Tablet (055948) | Ossein mineral complex 830 mg with vitamin D 400 IU: this page. |
| Osnate 800 Tablets (009087) | Ossein mineral complex 830 mg, without vitamin D. |
| Osnate-D sachet (036421) | Calcium carbonate with vitamin D, vitamin C and vitamin B6: not ossein, a different formula despite the same name. |

Frequently asked questions
What is Osnate D tablet used for?
Osnate D combines ossein mineral complex, a bone-derived source of calcium and phosphorus, with vitamin D. AGP’s product listing gives it for extra mineral needs in pregnancy, breastfeeding and growth, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, low blood calcium, bone pain, fragile bones, prevention of tooth decay, and fractures slow to heal.
When should I take the Osnate D Tablet?
AGP’s listing says before meals with some liquid. Keep it more than 2 hours apart from tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonates, iron, zinc and thyroid hormones, as the French label for the same bone mineral advises.
Can I take Osnate D Tablet with other medicines?
Some need care. The French label for ossein-hydroxyapatite warns that thiazide water tablets raise the risk of high calcium and that high calcium can make digoxin-type heart medicines more toxic, and it advises a 2-hour gap from several antibiotics and other medicines. If you take other vitamin D, ask first: Osnate D already contains it.
Who should not take this medicine?
The French and Polish labels for the same bone mineral rule it out for people with high calcium in the blood or urine, calcium kidney stones, calcium deposits in tissues or severe kidney failure. Both say to avoid combining it with vitamin D in people with a history of calcium stones, and Osnate D contains vitamin D.
What about Osnate D Tablet during pregnancy?
AGP lists increased mineral needs in pregnancy and breastfeeding among its uses, and the French and Polish labels say it may be used during pregnancy if clinically needed and during breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about every supplement you take.
Can Osnate D Tablet make me sleepy?
Sleepiness is not among the side effects the French and Polish labels list: those are stomach upset, constipation, rash, itching and high calcium levels. The French label says there are no data on its effect on driving.

DRAP registration
- Osnate-D Tablet (055948), AGP Limited. DRAP’s registry shows: Reviewed, “Not Verified”.
DRAP publishes no definition of this verification flag, so we can’t tell you what it means. We searched DRAP’s website for “Osnate”, “ossein” and “hydroxyapatite” on 22 October 2026 and found no alert naming Osnate or ossein. When we tested it, the search did not find a word that appears only inside an alert’s attached PDF, so an alert that names a product only in its PDF may not show up. DRAP describes its registered products index as a provisional list that “cannot be used as a reference for any purpose”. Checked against the registry on .
